Becoming familiar with some of the terminology used in the aluminum door and window industry

Frame Profile

In thermal break or normal (exclusive) aluminum windows, the frame which plays the role of the main window frame is called the frame profile and the dual mode window hinge or roller for the sliding window is placed upon it.

Leaf (wing) Profile or Vent

The profile which is used for the window opening, the moving wing or the sliding section is called the leaf (wing). It should be noted that if the window is placed completely behind the main window frame, it is called a “Hidden Vent”. These windows can only be manufactured using Thermal Break profiles.

Door vent profile

Door vent profiles are used in openings which include bathroom, entrance and terrace doors. It is worth mentioning that Hidden Vents cannot be utilized in this system.

Tripetalous Profile

The profile in the middle of the window is described as a cornice or shelter or a partition of the window and the opening is called a tripetalous. It has two types of fixed and movable that can be used in French doors or windows.

Groove (Double Rickety)

It is the profile that holds the glass on the window frame or door wing.

Frame Fixer

In the production of thermal break aluminum doors and windows, a special frame or fixture is used to attach the horizontal and vertical profiles of the main window frame, which is mounted inside the frame and is not visible.

Vent Fixer

In the production of thermal break aluminum doors and windows, vent fixer is used to attach the horizontal and vertical profiles of the main window frame. It is necessary to mention that fixers in window profiles vary in size.

Sealing Rubber

These are sealing strips that are placed on the frames or wings etc. in order to prevent energy loss by a large amount. Sealing strips can be utilized in the production of thermal break doors and windows in two movable and fixed modes.

Metal Brocket

All the profiles that are utilized in the production of thermal break aluminum window frames have edges that are not overlapped by the window fixer alone. In order for these edges to create one unified surface and also to increase their strength, a device called a metal brocket is utilized. These brockets are mounted on the frames, opening vents or shields.
